Accounts Assistant at an 11-person general practice firm, preparing accounts for a varied SME client base across accounting, tax and payroll.
- Preparing bookkeeping, journals, year-end adjustments, balance sheet reconciliations, annual accounts, VAT returns, self-assessment tax returns (including Making Tax Digital) and payroll.
- Supporting the full accounts cycle from initial processing through manager review, client approval and submission.
- Corresponding directly with clients and HMRC by email, telephone and in-person meetings to resolve queries and coordinate compliance work.
- Redesigned the firm’s payroll workflow for 200+ clients, creating a centralised spreadsheet to track ownership, pay frequencies, pension arrangements and deadlines, with automated reminders. The system remains in use and reduced both administrative workload and error risk.
- Designed the firm’s new HTML/CSS website as part of its rebrand, working alongside an external agency.
- Supported onboarding of new hires through structured handover documentation and ongoing on-the-job assistance.
